R.E.M. – Murmur – My attempt to discover the best that the 1980’s has to offer has resulted in my rediscovery of R.E.M. I was enormously into them when my entire music collection was on cassette tapes. As I moved over to CDs, I never re-purchased the albums and I moved on to different (louder) genres of music. Although I’ve managed to acquire a fair amount of their music from my youngest brother (who’s becoming an R.E.M. nut himself) neither he nor I ever had this album, so when I found it on the cheap at the local used record store, I pounced. It’s definitely recognizable as the same band, but it’s still a bit different than the early 90’s R.E.M. that I used to be so enamored with. |

The NIN quadruple! If there was a band I expected to show up 4 times in a single list, it would be NIN. They’ve released so many albums that they actually account for almost 10% of the songs on my iPod (alright, I went and actually counted – 156 songs out of 1866, or 8.3%).

…And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead – Bells of Creation
They managed to release a new album without my noticing, perhaps it will make an appearance at the top of one of these posts soon.
Nine Inch Nails – Something I Can Never Have
