Since he was himself a priest, there was no need to call one.
Yesterday’s post generated a comment or two about cut-up literature – so I ended up doing some searching and came across this collaboration betwixt Kurt Cobain and William S. Burroughs. It’s a setting of one of Burroughs short stories with Cobain playing a noisy mix of Silent Night and The Anacreontic Song (one I’m not familiar with) in the background.
The first time I listened to this, I was focused on Burroughs’ reading of the story, so then I went back and focused on the music. I thought it was really interesting on both counts, but not something I’m going to rush out and buy anytime soon.
I’ll call it a noble failure. I think I might’ve liked both elements better if they stood alone.
