Mind of Dwayne Hoover

Since the blog is named for a literary character (from my favorite book of all time) I felt I needed to add a bit of literary flavor. Simply put, this series will be essentially my thoughts on the books that I recently finished reading. I will do my best not to give away any endings or significant plot twists, but I will gear the review toward someone who has read the book in question, so there will be some things given away. I hope you enjoy it, or at least find my thoughts interesting.

The name of the series comes from Dwayne Hoover, a character in Kurt Vonnegut’s Breakfast of Champions, who is a car salesman that believes the stories of failed science fiction writer Kilgore Trout are truth. Hoover is a man who is incapable of understanding the literature that he worships, and has, in fact, chosen an idol who almost everyone else would agree is unworthy of admiration. Hopefully, I’ll choose better books and the series will be a little more insightful than its namesake.

This will be somewhat sporadic, as I have less time for reading than I would like. However, if you’re reading this you probably came from the latest entry in “The Mind of Dwayne Hoover”, see below for a full list of the entries in this series. Also there is a link up on top of the page if you get lost and need to find your way back here. Thanks for reading, let me know what you think.
